Roof Cleaning Crowborough — Soft Wash Specialists
Softwash roof cleaning in Crowborough and the TN6 area, deep in the High Weald. Shaded, wooded streets mean moss comes back fast, because the sun rarely reaches the tiles.
Why Crowborough roofs need specialist cleaning
Crowborough sits on a high ridge in the High Weald. The High Weald National Landscape says trees and woodland cover nearly a third of its area. Because of that height, woodland and regular rain, many roofs stay damp, and north-facing slopes in Jarvis Brook and around Beacon Road can turn green quickly.
Wooded streets give shade all year round. Because the sun rarely reaches the tiles, they stay wet after rain. All tile types can regrow fast in these conditions.
For heavily shaded roofs, a lighter top-up treatment every two to three years can be cheaper than waiting for a full clean. Ask us about this when you request a quote. We give honest advice because every roof is different.
Our Crowborough roof cleaning service
We fix the price before we start, because you should know the cost up front. Each visit includes the steps below.
- Soft wash biocide treatment (no pressure washing)
- Manual moss scraping where required
- Gutter clearance of fallen moss debris
- 5-year regrowth protection guarantee on the treatment
- Free post-job inspection report with photos
- Optional roof coating and colour restoration
We work from our own roof ladders or telescopic softwash lances, so most Crowborough properties do not need scaffolding. However, steep or tall roofs may call for a cherry picker, and we say so in the quote. Many Crowborough plots slope, so we check where the equipment can stand before we confirm a price.
Crowborough pricing
Roof cleaning has no single price, because it depends on roof size, pitch, moss coverage and access. For example, a small bungalow with light algae costs less than a tall detached house with thick moss. The quickest way to an accurate number is a free, no-obligation quote for your own Crowborough home.

Frequently asked questions
How much does roof cleaning cost in Crowborough?
Soft wash roof cleaning in Crowborough typically costs from £325 for a semi-detached and from £425 for a detached home. Bungalows start from £275. Every quote includes biocide treatment and gutter clearance of fallen moss, because moss blocks gutters.
Why does Crowborough have some of the worst moss in East Sussex?
The town is high, heavily wooded and often wet. Mist and cloud are common, and tree shade stops roofs from drying. As a result, north-facing slopes rarely get enough sun to dry out between showers.
Do you cover Rotherfield, Mayfield and the surrounding Weald villages?
We cover Rotherfield, Mayfield, Wadhurst, Ticehurst, Burwash, Mark Cross, Groombridge and Withyham. Although the lanes are rural, we plan access with you. Use the quote form to confirm your address.
How often should a heavily wooded Crowborough property be treated?
With significant tree cover and north-facing slopes, a top-up every two to three years can work well. This keeps the roof clean, while it can cost less than a full clean after five years. We give honest advice when we quote.
Is it possible to prevent regrowth rather than just treat it?
The biocide kills growth at the spore level, which is as close to prevention as a roof treatment gets. However, shade and damp mean growth can return. Regular top-ups keep it in check.
