Roof Cleaning Eastbourne — Soft Wash Specialists
Softwash roof cleaning in Eastbourne, from £295. We cover seafront terraces, South Downs suburbs and the many bungalows in between, while coastal lichen shapes the treatment.
Why Eastbourne roofs need specialist cleaning
Eastbourne has the English Channel on one side and the South Downs on the other. Sea air helps lichen grow on the Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Meads and the Old Town. Meanwhile the inland suburbs stay damp under the Downs.
Eastbourne also has a lot of bungalows. Their low, shallow roofs hold water longer and dry slowly, so moss builds up faster. Roofs that go years without a clean, however, can carry thick growth.
Thick growth is not a problem for softwash, although it takes patience. We remove the bulk, treat the surface and let rain finish the job. For that reason you may see the roof keep improving for several weeks.
Our Eastbourne roof cleaning service
We fix the price before we start, because you should know the cost up front. Each visit includes the steps below.
- Soft wash biocide treatment (no pressure washing)
- Manual moss scraping where required
- Gutter clearance of fallen moss debris
- 5-year regrowth protection guarantee on the treatment
- Free post-job inspection report with photos
- Optional roof coating and colour restoration
We work from our own roof ladders or telescopic softwash lances, so most Eastbourne properties do not need scaffolding. However, steep or tall roofs may call for a cherry picker, and we say so in the quote. Bungalow roofs in Eastbourne are low, so we can usually reach them with a ladder rather than scaffolding.
Eastbourne pricing
Roof cleaning has no single price, because it depends on roof size, pitch, moss coverage and access. For example, a small bungalow with light algae costs less than a tall detached house with thick moss. The quickest way to an accurate number is a free, no-obligation quote for your own Eastbourne home.

Frequently asked questions
How much does roof cleaning cost in Eastbourne?
Soft wash roof cleaning in Eastbourne typically costs from £295 for a bungalow, £350 for a semi-detached and from £450 for a detached home. However, coastal lichen growth may add £50–£100 to the standard rate.
Why is lichen so bad on Eastbourne seafront properties?
The Channel-facing position brings sea air and damp all year. South and west-facing slopes on the seafront take the most weather. As a result, lichen tends to be heaviest there.
Do you clean bungalow roofs?
Bungalows are common in Eastbourne, and we clean them regularly. Shallow-pitch roofs hold more moss, but they are also easy to reach. Therefore most bungalow jobs need no scaffolding.
Do you cover Hailsham, Polegate and the surrounding villages?
We cover Meads, Willingdon, Polegate, Hailsham, Pevensey, Stone Cross, Westham and Hampden Park, and the wider BN20 to BN23 area. Although the villages are spread out, the service is the same. The quote form will confirm.
How long does softwash last on a coastal Eastbourne property?
Inland homes typically stay clean for four to five years. Exposed seafront and cliff-top roofs may see regrowth sooner, however, because of the weather. We back all work with a 5-year regrowth protection guarantee.
