Roof Cleaning Reigate & Redhill — Soft Wash Specialists
Softwash roof cleaning across Reigate, Redhill and the RH1 to RH2 area. Older conservation area homes and modern estates both get a method that suits them, because the tile type decides the approach.
Why Reigate roofs need specialist cleaning
Reigate and Redhill sit at the foot of the North Downs. Reigate has an older conservation area and many detached homes, while Redhill has more post-war and modern housing. Shade from the hill and from tall garden trees helps moss grow on clay and concrete tile alike.
Tree-lined roads in Reigate are a particular cause of trouble. Leaves collect in valleys and gutters and keep the roof damp. As a result, north-facing slopes can look green within a few seasons.
Reigate also has many period and listed homes. If yours is one of them, check with the council before any work and tell us when you ask for a quote. We can then explain our method in writing, because some councils want details.
Our Reigate roof cleaning service
We fix the price before we start, because you should know the cost up front. Each visit includes the steps below.
- Soft wash biocide treatment (no pressure washing)
- Manual moss scraping where required
- Gutter clearance of fallen moss debris
- 5-year regrowth protection guarantee on the treatment
- Free post-job inspection report with photos
- Optional roof coating and colour restoration
We work from our own roof ladders or telescopic softwash lances, so most Reigate properties do not need scaffolding. However, steep or tall roofs may call for a cherry picker, and we say so in the quote. Hillside roads around Reigate can limit where equipment stands, so tell us about parking when you ask for a quote.
Reigate pricing
Roof cleaning has no single price, because it depends on roof size, pitch, moss coverage and access. For example, a small bungalow with light algae costs less than a tall detached house with thick moss. The quickest way to an accurate number is a free, no-obligation quote for your own Reigate home.

If you live in Reigate, our article on whether home insurance covers roof cleaning is also worth reading before you book.

Frequently asked questions
How much does roof cleaning cost in Reigate and Redhill?
Soft wash roof cleaning in Reigate and Redhill typically costs from £375 for a semi-detached and from £475 for a detached home. Bungalows start from £325. We quote listed and period properties individually, because the tile type needs checking first.
Do you cover Horley, Merstham and the surrounding areas?
We cover Merstham, Nutfield, Bletchingley, Salfords, Horley, Earlswood, Coulsdon, Chipstead and Kingswood. Although the area is built up, access still varies. The quote form is the easiest way to confirm.
Are you experienced with Reigate's period and listed buildings?
Reigate's conservation area includes many listed Victorian and Edwardian homes. We adjust the biocide strength for older tile and slate. However, ask your council whether any consent applies before work starts.
How does North Downs moss compare to other areas?
The scarp slope gives shelter, and shade from trees and the hill keeps many roofs damp. Homes below Reigate Hill may therefore see growth return sooner than homes on flatter ground. A shaded roof may suit an earlier check.
Do you handle pre-sale property reports?
If you are selling, tell us when you ask for a quote. We can time the clean before photos and viewings, since a tidy roof improves first impressions. Ask what we can provide in writing for your sale.
